Awhile back, I began the journey of excavating and refining my own framework of womanhood. As a way to get to know myself more deeply in a time when I felt so distant from my core, but also as a way of determining how I relate to the world around me. I've been many things in my life - a career woman, a mother, an entrepreneur, a friend, a sister, a confidant. But what does that mean for me?
Well this piece I wrote really helped me to crystallize all of that, and I'm so grateful I was able to put pen to paper in this way.
Hope you enjoy and maybe even consider doing a similar exercise yourself...

An online community for women is an empowering network that is great for finding collaborators, mentors, coaches, support, or just some inspiration and motivation. Most business community groups usually exist to serve a sole purpose, such as to unite women in business or women in technology or women in university, for example — and they typically hold events, conduct research, and share resources for these women.
The Village For Women does this by bringing women in business together to share their expertise, knowledge, and skills. That shared experience helps empower other women.

Achieving work-life balance is the ultimate of balancing acts, and we're no strangers to the struggle. We know that work-life balance can seem like an impossible feat at times. Technology makes workers accessible around the clock. Fears of job loss incentivize longer hours. Experts agree: the stress from the never-ending workday is damaging to those who struggle finding balance. It can hurt relationships, health, and overall happiness.
You might be doing incredibly well in the professional space, but it does not need to be at the cost of your personal life. Making the conscious effort to set clear work-life boundaries doesn't mean choosing between your career and your family but allowing you to bring balance to both.
Women in business have a lot to juggle and deal with. Having a network to rely on can make a huge difference in terms of achieving success and getting there faster. In today’s blog, we want to highlight several of the ways that a referral network can help women in business, regardless of the type, size, or age of the business in question.
What Is A Referral Network?
At The Village For Women, we view referral networks as online meeting places for like-minded business women. It’s a space where you can meet other business owners and entrepreneurs and discover what types of businesses are thriving in today’s marketplace. It’s a network of women in business who are curious about what others are doing and interested in making...more
Through these awfully bizarre times, I’ve tried on a number of ideas for my future self. Writer. Peacekeeper. Bridge builder. Homeschool teacher. Thought leader. Artist.
Some of these literal and some of them figurative. Some realistic and some to be attained at a future date unknown to me.
All of them were accompanied by a familiar voice that whispers, “Are you sure? You sure you can do that? How do you know you can do that? What makes you so sure?” I know this voice well – she’s been with me for as long as I can remember. Her successes include anything I ever wanted to try but never saw through to the end. Her victories are my dreams unraveled. Her wins are my shame.
She is also the reason I used to rarely speak up at meetings in boardrooms. She convinced me that if...more
